Web dashboard vs mobile field app

Two surfaces, one workspace — the desktop admin shell for the office and the mobile field screens for sales, warehouse and delivery, and which role lands where.

Overview

Your business runs in two places: the office and the field. Neev gives you one workspace with two faces. The web dashboard is the wide desktop screen for the people who sit — owner, manager, accountant, the phone-order desk. The mobile field app is the thumb-sized screen for the people who move — the counter rep, the packing floor, the delivery rider. Same data, same login. The screen you land on depends on your role, so nobody wastes time hunting for their job.

Where to find it

You don't pick a surface — Neev picks it for you from your role, then drops you on the right home page.

  • Web dashboard opens at the canonical route for your role: owner at /home, manager at /home-manager, accountant at /home-accountant, warehouse at /warehouse, delivery at /shipping, and sales or the front desk at /orders. It runs the desktop admin shell — a left sidebar, a top bar with a command palette and notifications, and a density toggle.
  • Mobile field app lives under /m/<role>/<tab>. Owner and manager land on /m/admin/home, warehouse on /m/warehouse/pack, delivery on /m/delivery/home, and sales or the front desk on /m/sales/home. It runs the mobile shell — a header and a bottom tab bar built for fat-finger taps.

The accountant is web-only: there is no accountant mobile screen, so on a phone an accountant falls back to the desktop accountant home.

Key concepts

  • The same design colours, fonts and spacing drive three postures, set on the page root via data-posture: editorial for marketing, operational for the admin desktop, and field for mobile and warehouse screens. The button is the same component everywhere — only its surroundings change.
  • The admin shell is the desktop chrome: left sidebar nav, a top bar carrying the command palette, the notifications popover, the help cheat-sheet and the density toggle.
  • The mobile shell is the field chrome: a header, the screen body, and a bottom tab bar. Tap targets are large — up to 56px on warehouse screens so a gloved hand can hit them.
  • Each role gets its own mobile tabset: admin (Home, Approvals, Insights, Credit) for owner and manager, sales (Home, Bill) for sales and the front desk, warehouse (Pack), and delivery (Today).
  • Access is role-gated on both surfaces. A desktop route checks your role before it loads; a mobile route does the same. Land somewhere your role can't go and Neev bounces you back to your own home.

Common workflows

1
Log in and land on your home
Sign in once. Neev reads your role and drops you on the matching desktop home — owner on Home, manager on Manager home, accountant on Accountant home, warehouse on Warehouse, delivery on Shipping, sales and front desk on Orders.
2
Move around the desktop sidebar
The left sidebar only shows the sections your role can open. Click any item to jump; the top bar updates the title and breadcrumb.
3
Jump anywhere with the command palette
Hit CtrlK from any desktop screen to open the command palette and jump to a screen without reaching for the sidebar.
4
Open the field app on a phone
On a phone, browse to your /m/<role>/<tab> home. The bottom tab bar carries only your role's tabs — Pack for warehouse, Bill for sales, Today for delivery.
5
Switch between web and mobile
Both run off the same login and the same data. Open the desktop URL on a laptop, the /m URL on a phone — there's no separate account to set up.

Role notes

Every role can reach both surfaces in principle, but each lands on a different home and sees only its own screens. The accountant is the exception — no mobile screen exists, so an accountant works on the web dashboard.

  • Owner and Manager are deskbound but get the full admin mobile tabset (Home, Approvals, Insights, Credit) for checking in from the field.
  • Accountant works on the web dashboard only. On a phone the accountant falls back to the desktop accountant home — there is no accountant field screen.
  • Operator the front desk, lands on Orders on desktop and shares the sales tabset (Home, Bill) on mobile.
  • Warehouse lives on the floor: Warehouse on desktop, the Pack tab on mobile.
  • Delivery is the most restricted — Shipping on desktop, the Today tab on mobile, and nothing else.
  • Sales lands on Orders on desktop and the sales Home/Bill tabs on mobile.

Tips & time-savers

Tip
On the desktop dashboard, toggle Cozy ↔ Dense with Ctrl\\ to fit more rows on screen when you're working a long list — the choice is remembered next time. Press CtrlK to open the command palette and jump straight to any screen.

You don't need a separate app store download to try the field surface — open the /m/<role> URL on a phone and the mobile shell loads in the browser.

Gotchas

Warning
The mobile /m screens today are reference-grade — they show the real shape, routing and tabs of the field app, but they are previews, not the full production field surface yet. Do your live, must-be-recorded work (confirming orders, recording payments, packing slips) on the web dashboard until the production field screens ship.
Warning
You can't open a screen your role isn't allowed on. Type a route you don't have access to — desktop or mobile — and Neev shows "Access restricted" and sends you back to your own home. If a teammate needs a screen they can't reach, the owner has to change their role, not the URL.
